It’s almost the 4th of July here in the US! US friends, are you ready? This shoot was one of my hardest: I had 1 hour to get all the shots I wanted to before going to a client for the whole day. I was also sick with food poisoning and almost had my tripod confiscated by a security guard because apparently they are not allowed at The Warf DC ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So, I literally had to set my camera on a little table next to the swing in these photos and prop it up with a coffee sleeve, the arm of my tripod, and a tube of Lorac Lipstick in CEO I had in my purse. MacGyver, eat your heart out.
Despite my first world problems, I’m pretty happy with how this shoot went and I hope you enjoy these pics!
Outfit Deets
Sweater: Wooden Ships Knits in Americana (size S/M) but also crushing on this sweater // Shorts: Forever21 (old), but similar here // Shoes: Dolce Vita (old) but similar here // Lips: NARS in American Woman
Can we talk about how cute this Americana sweater is? I was impressed with the quality (it’s a solid knit, not striped fabric sewn together). The sweater is lightweight so it’s perfect for breezy mornings and evenings in the Summer. I usually wear a Size 2/4 in tops and the S/M fit me perfectly. It has a little slouch to it so you can wear it off-the-shoulder. I think it would also look great with leggings!
If you haven’t heard of Wooden Ships before, they’re a really unique company. They are family-owned, located in Bali, and have strong ethical production practices. For example, production employees are paid more than fair wages and women are provided the opportunity to take on roles traditionally held by men in Indonesia. Another fun fact: the factory is even outfitted with solar panels allowing production to be powered 85% by the sun! The sweaters retail between $80-$110 each, which is on the higher end. However, when you consider the ethical practices associated with production and the high quality, you realize that’s it is at that price point for a reason.
What are your favorite pieces for the 4th of July and the Summer?
