Related: I Went To The Wing’s Camp No Man’s Land – This is What it Was Like.
One of my favorite ways to get away during the summer is glamping aka luxury camping. Glamping is the perfect type of vacation to get out and away from the city without having to truly rough it. I’ve gone glamping a few times and this is my ultimate glamping packing list for the essentials you’ll need for both comfort and style.
For the uninitiated, glamping is camping with added luxury features such as cabins or tents with ac/heat, luxury bedding, showers, and hotel-style toiletries. Every glamping resort is different, but some even offer room service, full electricity in tents, wifi, etc. Many resorts activities such as water sports, hiking, zip-lining, and even horseback riding.
Last year I went to The Wing’s Camp No Man’s Land glamping event and learned a lot about what and what not to bring on my upcoming glamping trip to River Mountain Resort! Below is my Summer glamping packing list to have everything you need to have a fun and stylish experience!
Best Bag For Your Trip
First off, there are three main bag options for glamping: weekenders, backpacks, or roller bags/luggage.
Weekenders are great compact options for trips that are 2-4 days. I brought the Lo & Sons Catalina weekender to Camp No Man’s Land and it worked so well! I also loved the bottom area where I could store shoes and other dirty/muddy items that I didn’t want to store in main compartment. What I didn’t love about a weekender is having to haul it on my shoulder for long periods of time (mostly commuting on train, plane, etc.). Therefore, if you’re taking a car to your destination, this is going to be a great bag for you.
Backpacks are also a great option to carry everything without hindering your shoulders. They also allow you to carry items like water bottles, etc. that you wouldn’t necessarily want to pack in a weekender or roller bag. Also ideal for 2-4 day trips, and for locations that might be muddy or have a lot of dirt paths.
Roller bags or luggage are best if you are traveling far (flying, etc.). However, if you’ll be traversing through some rough terrain to get to your cabin/tent, this is not going to be the best bet. But they’re so easy to roll around while carrying everything, it’s hard not to list as a great choice. While I took a weekender bag to Camp NML, I wish I brought my carryon.
Clothing
TOPS AND BOTTOMS
Layering is the best way to be prepared for any kind of weather. If you live in the city but are headed to the mountains, you’ll be surprised how cold it can get in the mornings and evenings. A Zip up jacket, or pullover sweatshirt are great layering options so you can stay toasty before the day warms up.
T-Shirts are another great layering item. I love to buy oversized T-Shirts to layer over tanks, or to tie knots in the bottom when I’m looking for a more tailored look.
Tank Tops are my go-to in the Summer. I’m obsessed with this three pack from Amazon. They are also super affordable and definitely a Lulumen dupe. These tanks are great to wear for hikes, yoga, over a swimsuit, and for just hanging out while sipping on some canned rose with friends.
There are so many opportunities to wear leggings too – for traveling, hiking, yoga, etc. You’ll be mostly outdoors so don’t hinder yourself with uncomfortable/constricting clothes. Also, my daily go-to leggings for years are these high-waisted compression leggings from Old Navy.
Shorts are perfect for keeping cool and don’t take up too much room in your bag. I personally love bringing a pair of biker shorts and jean shorts.
Glamping packing list must! Perfect for outdoor activities and especially for swimming or water sports in lakes/rivers to prevent water critters from finding their way in places they shouldn’t! I always bring at least 2 pairs and they get so much use.
Aim for items made of cotton or stretchy jersey knit for ultimate comfort. These are also great items if you want to dress up a bit for dinners or campfires. You can easily dress them up with a cute jean jacket and sandals for added style.
Pro Tip: Pair with a brallette for added comfort and style. I don’t know about you, but I strapless bras are never comfortable.
Pjs and Sweatpants
I always pack a pair of oversized sweatpants that you can layer over PJs. For the PJ’s themselves, I opt for supersoft T-shirt/shorts combos. Old tees (like my Juicy Couture inspired bid-day shirt from 2018) and soffee shorts are also a great option.
WATER ACTIVITIES
Opt for cheap/cute here because you do not want to get your designer swimmie stained with river water and mud. I usually like to wear a one piece so I’m ready for anything from paddle boarding to tubing. Rashguards are also great if you’re going to be more active, because rashes are an accessory that look good on no one.
Undergarments/Accessories
Socks
I’m only going to say that you should bring more socks than you need.
One of my favorite accessories is my Lululemon scarf that turns into a poncho. SO versatile!
SHOES
For hiking, running, and also just going to and from. A pair of comfortable sneakers is a MUST for my glamping packing list! I never go anywhere without my Nike Flyknit 2 – they are like walking on clouds.
Bring a pair of flipflops that are easy to clean or you don’t mind getting dirty. Laugh all you want, but I love Crocs flipflops – my sister calls them “All Terrain” shoes because they’re so easy to clean. Havianas are also great.
I bring one pair of sandals if I want something more styled or substantial than just flipflops. They are also great for day trips from resort and for dressing up a casual outfit.
These are optional, but good to bring if the water you’ll be swimming in might be…questionable.
Essentials
Glamping packing list essentials – don’t leave home without these!
Do not skimp here! My favorite is Neutrogena Ultra Sheer. Consider it fair skinned approved 🙌
These are a great lightweight option and are also easy to pack and bring on hikes if you need to reapply.
Hand Sanitizer
I’m writing this during a pandemic, no explanation needed.
Hydration is everything! I bring my Swell, but I also love this compact option.
Because I’m obsessed and not ashamed.
SO AMAZING! Great for refreshing between activities without needing a full blown shower. I also bring these on long-haul flights because plane-stink is real.
Light Rain Jacket or Umbrella
I personally pack a rain jacket and my The North Face Resolve 2 Jacket is my favorite! It’s incredibly lightweight and 100% waterproof. Sometimes I might opt for an umbrellas because they are small and easy to pack. Bring one or the other, not both.
Great for keeping warm by the fire and if you need some extra warmth in the cabin if there’s no heat. Also great for impromptu picnics!
Toiletries
Pro Tip: The smaller, the better. While glamping might have everything you need just like a hotel, I love to bring my favorites just so I can be a bit more comfortable. Here are the things that I always keep in my toiletry bag:
- Razor
- Hair brush
- Lip balm
- Make up
- Skincare
The resort will most likely have toiletries, but I can be very finicky about which products I like to use on my hair. I cannot recommend ECO 30 products enough for this! ECO 30 products have Plastic-free packing and the products are SO high quality. They have a great lather and never leave me with sticky/gummy hair. I’ve also tried a bunch of other brands of bottle-free shampoo/conditioner and ECO360 is my favorite. In addition, Lush and Trader Joe’s shampoo bar are other great glamping options!
Snacks & Coffee
My glamping packing list would not be complete without coffee. Although I am a coffee fanatic, I just need 1 cup to get me through my day. BUT, that one cup really needs to be a good one or else it’ll throw off my whole day. The majority of glamping resorts boast fancy coffee options. You know, organic, small batch, Intelligentsia, etc. However, I always pack a couple of my favorites in the event I need a quick pick-me-up.
Granola Bars
Trail Mix
Tech
Phone charger
My absolute favorite travel camera is the Canon G7X Mark II. DSLR quality in a tiny hand-held and also has great night shots.
If you love taking photos, this is a must! You can organize all of your SD and Micro SD cards and be sure that they won’t get damaged if something happens to leak in your bag.
One of my best purchases in the past few years. You can take it everywhere and enjoy a great book. Also, this is not just on my glamping packing list – I take my Kindle everywhere!
Headphones
Powerbank
Other
Afterbite/anti-itch cream is a must if you’re going to be in the woods. You’ll want to be prepared for all the nasties before they start biting. Your friends and future-self will thank you.
Bandaids
Extra bandaids are always good to have some on hand for blisters, etc.
Notebook and Pens
Bring a notebook for journaling and when inspiration hits while relaxing in nature.
This is my ultimate glamping packing list! Did I forget on of your favorites? If so, please let me know in the comments!
